24 Sep Dan D’Lion announces UK tour for March 2022
Today sees Dan D’Lion share his brand new single ‘Feels So Good’ via Insanity Records. Alongside today’s release, Dan D’Lion has announced a headline tour for 2022 in four cities across the UK, including a show at London’s Oslo on March 18. Tickets on sale for all dates.
Few artists genuinely defy the limits of genre but Dan D’Lion is certainly one of them. New single ‘Feels So Good’ is the first taste of Dan D’Lion’s most ambitious project to date, combining the base elements of funk and firing them through a prism of influences with timeless soulful vocals and shimmering electro-pop production. Speaking on the lyrics, Dan D’Lion explains: ‘Temptation comes in all shapes and sizes, but everything comes at a cost. ‘Feels So Good’ is about walking the line between paradise and catastrophe!’
Dan D’Lion recently collaborated with Tom Grennan on his #1 debut album ‘Evering Road’ with production credits on smash hit ‘Don’t Break The Heart’. He is about to embark on the biggest tour of his career so far, supporting Grennan for eight dates across the UK, kicking off in Liverpool on the 26th. This month also saw Dan D’Lion receive one of his greatest accolades to date, with the reveal that his track ‘Good Times To Come’ will feature on the FIFA 22 soundtrack alongside fellow peers Little Simz, Glass Animals, Joy Crookes and Chvrches.
Today’s release follows Dan D’Lion’s previous EP ‘FRUITION’, released back in May which marked an experimental and eclectic new phase for Dan D’Lion, a multi-hyphenated artist, producer and songwriter intent on broadening his horizons. His exploratory spirit has arguably been there from his upbringing in Reading, where Dan’s futuristic, alternative-pop sound first took shape. Born to a jazz drummer dad and a record collection full of soul from his mum, Dan grew up encouraged “to make as much of a racket as I could” (he also naturally gravitated towards the local legacy of rock, and idolised Rage Against The Machine), skipping university to move to London and pursue a career in music, Dan D’Lion has since honed a vivid musical imagination; surging between Neptunes-worthy, pitch-shifted pop, sinuous R&B, and glittering, Jai Paul-esque funk.
There is, too, more than Dan D’Lion than meets the eye. As evidenced in his choice of pseudonym, Dan’s work often explores the relationship between emotional vulnerability and strength, particularly in the context of modern masculinity. Working multiple jobs to make ends meet, his own struggle to blend into the crowd found a cathartic outlet in early tracks like ‘Simmer Down’, which was written in response to being mugged (and a more generational sense of anger, fear, and paranoia). Last year’s mixtape ‘When One Thing Leads To Another’ proved a vivid soundtrack about what you learn about yourself, as you navigate a new relationship and the results are off-kilter, colourful, and confirm Dan D’Lion as one of UK pop’s modern outliers.
