Cygnet Hospital Colchester to hold recruitment Open Day

21 Sep Cygnet Hospital Colchester to hold recruitment Open Day

Staff from Cygnet Hospital Colchester will be talking about how local jobseekers can make a positive difference to the lives of people with severe and enduring mental illness during an open day to recruit health workers.

The 54-bed specialist rehabilitation service on Boxted Road, Colchester provides assessment, treatment and rehabilitation for men with learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorders or mental health needs, and is recruiting support workers to join their team.

Ron Gutu, Operations Director for Cygnet Hospital Colchester, said: “Locally we have had to deal with a shortage of support workers which has also been reflected nationally. While we do have enough staff to deliver safe care, increased demand for specialist services like ours means it is crucial to recruit talented and compassionate individuals to help reduce the current pressure on the sector.

“Previous experience is not essential, but it is important that applicants have a passion for delivering outstanding care and helping others. Many of our most dedicated staff members started out as support workers and they will be on hand to share their experiences at the open day for people interested in a career in care.”

Incentives for new staff include discounts from big brands like Nike, Boots, H&M, Primark, Boohoo, Argos, IKEA, Cygnet also offers discounted gym membership, free meals onsite, free eye tests and a group pension.

Recruitment in the care sector has never been more important, with the number of vacancies rising above 120,000 nationwide. Cygnet Hospital Colchester promotes physical health, wellbeing and meaningful occupation in its treatment programmes, using strong community links to facilitate individualised wellbeing plans. It is rated as Good by the regulator, the Care Quality Commission.

The Open Day will take place at The Players’ Lounge, JobServe Community Stadium, Colchester United FC, United Way, Colchester, CO4 5UP, on Thursday 7th October from 10am to 4pm.
