17 Mar Councillors to consider next steps for development of new Pitsea pool
Plans for a new swimming pool in Pitsea will move forward when councillors discuss the next steps for the project.
The Neighbourhoods and Public spaces committee will meet on Tuesday 24 March to progress the tender for works on the preparation and technical design of the modular building.
Vice Chairman of the Neighbourhoods and Public Spaces Committee, Councillor Andrew Ansell, said: “There is a clear desire in the community for additional swimming pool provision in this part of the borough.
“The addition of a swimming pool to Eversley leisure centre would complete the centre’s status as the sports hub for Pitsea and could be a very exciting development for the area, which has been deprived of a local pool for some time now.”
Eversley leisure centre, owned by Basildon Council and managed by Everyone Active, currently has a 65 station health and fitness suite, workout and spin studios, is used as a base by South Essex Gymnastics Club and has a 3G football pitch.
Should approval be given for the council to tender for work to develop designs and costs a further report with detailed designs and proposals for the projects delivery will appear at a future committee.
