03 Apr Completion of nine new homes in Laindon
A nine home development in Laindon which is available to borough key workers and residents is now complete.
The homes are available through the council’s housebuilding company, Sempra Homes, and include seven one and two bed apartments and two, two bed houses.
Sempra Homes handed over the development site, Cherry Tree Court in Pound Lane Central, to its build contractor, Jerram Falkus, last February.
As part of its shared ownership new homes delivery programme, Sempra is working in partnership with Homes England and is supporting Basildon Council with its ambition to give priority to the borough’s key workers to access housing. Key workers include nurses, teachers, police and other public servants.
Cllr Callaghan said: “Firstly, I would like to acknowledge the efforts of all those involved in getting us here given the unprecedented events of the last few weeks. Here is yet another example of how we are building quality housing for key workers and residents.
“Our Basildon first approach to housing will help us meet the varying housing needs of the borough whilst improving local neighbourhoods by utilising underused sites that larger developers won’t touch.”
Melanie Keys, Manager of Sempra Homes, said: “We’re really proud of these new homes, which are of a high quality and specification and will provide a lovely place to live for the new residents. They are brought to the market as shared ownership and will provide buyers with an opportunity to purchase a share in a home where outright purchase is not affordable.
“Through our shared ownership programme Sempra is working alongside the Government’s Help to Buy scheme, enabling residents to purchase an initial share of their home with an option to buy further shares as they can afford to do so.”
