04 Jan Colchester U’s Coach John McGreal shortlisted for award
The U’s went from the foot of the table to the edges of the play-offs in the final month of 2016, which saw them go unbeaten with some impressive performances.
They followed that up with another win against Cheltenham on Monday to consolidate their position in the race for promotion.
The team’s form in the final month of 2016 has seen John shortlisted for December’s accolade, along with the following managers:-
Gareth Ainsworth (Wycombe Wanderers)
Led his side through a second successive stellar month. They collected 10 points from four games, three of them away. Most impressive of all was coming back from 3-1 down at leaders Plymouth Argyle on Boxing Day to salvage a draw.
Shaun Derry (Cambridge United)
A second straight winning month lifted his side into the Play-Off places. Encourages his side to go forward, something they did to devastating effect in the 5-0 win at Hartlepool United, part of a 10-point haul from four matches.
Paul Tisdale (Exeter City)
His side began December just above the relegation places. Worse still, they hadn’t won at St James’ Park. Ten points from four games and a first home win later, they are now in Play-Off contention, due reward for Tisdale’s patience.
The winners of the three divisional awards will be announced this week.
