Amber regularly supports the charity with fundraising efforts, along with her friends and family. Last year, she took part in the Superhero Tri, a triathlon for people with disabilities. She completed the challenge with her husband, Chris, brother Toby, and son, Arlo.
Two-year-old Arlo was born with bilateral cataracts and now has no lenses in his eyes due to the necessary surgery. With his glasses, he has approximately 2 metres of vision and no peripheral vision. The family are keen to support a children’s charity that provides the necessary equipment children with disabilities need to reach their full potential.
Amber and Julie took on the London Landmarks Half Marathon as part of their latest fundraising efforts for Variety, the Children’s Charity. The running route takes runners through the heart of London past some of the city’s most iconic landmarks, including Big Ben, the London Eye, and the Tower of London.
As well as the London Landmarks Half Marathon, Amber is taking on the Manchester Marathon and the London Marathon, running a total of 65.5 miles in three weeks for Variety.
Variety, the Children’s Charity is celebrating its 75th anniversary in the UK this year. The charity provides practical support to disabled and disadvantaged children in the form of wheelchair and equipment grants, experiences on their Variety Great Days Out, fully accessible transport for schools in the form of their famous Sunshine Coaches, and work experience placements through their new Access Interns programme.
Amber will be taking part in Parallel Windsor on Sunday 7th July along with Arlo and the family. To celebrate their 75th anniversary, Variety, the Children’s Charity is building a team of 75 people for the fully inclusive challenge event held in Windsor Great Park.
