07 Dec Colchester Foodbank gives £400 donation to local project
Colchester Foodbank give a big thank you to Alice Goss’s Without Walls project which has made a £400 donation
Without Walls was a labour of love taking two years’ work and considerable time and effort from everyone who has contributed to this book compiled by Alice Goss.
You can discover the history of Colchester through poetry and verse in “Without Walls”, which contains 250 pages of poetry, photos, illustrations and articles.
Nearly all the poems are accompanied by either a photograph, illustration or historical article. The book features poems about Colchester Castle, Boudica, the Siege, Battle of the Headgate, Minories, Jumbo Water Tower, Colchester’s ghosts, Castle Park, Colne Light Ship, Colchester Zoo, Firstsite, Colchester’s Arts Centre, our military heritage and many more. The book includes poems by: Luke Wright, Kit Wright, David Canning, Martin Newell, Mike Harwood and many more local and recognised poets. It’s the history of Colchester in verse.
The book is available now at Red Lion Bookshop, where they are selling out fast as supply is limited. The proceeds from the sale of the book go towards supporting Colchester’s homeless charities. There are a number of different agencies in Colchester that have benefited from this project, including the Foodbank which Alice visited to make the £400 donation.
