09 Nov Colchester Foodbank charity thanks generous support from local Santander Branch
Kind local customers at our local Santander branch have donated over 40kg of food and toiletries and over £200 to Colchester Foodbank, helping to bring hope to local families and individuals in crisis.
Michael Beckett, Colchester Foodbank Manager, said,
“The foodbank is very grateful for the generous donations of 41.6kg of food and toiletry items and £285 to Colchester Foodbank that the support of Judi and the team helped us to receive. We were particularly grateful that one of their customer donated a cheque for £10,000 to us directly and for Santander for doubling the cash collected for us at the Branch!
“Colchester Foodbank in partnership with Brightlingsea and Wivenhoe Foodbanks is looking to raise money to buy a premises for us to receive, sort, store and distribute from. Our biggest expense is renting our current premises and if we can raise money to own our own building we can reduce our costs, so more money can be devoted to helping local people in need directly. We have launched a crowdfunder campaign www.crowdfunder.co.uk/colchesterfoodbank to help us buy a new Food HQ that end on 27th November and the money Santander has helped us raise will go towards this goal too!”
Judi Hambling, Branch Manager at Santander’s Colchester High Street Branch, said: “We would like to thank our customers for their generous support for this great cause which makes a difference to local people by providing food donations. My team and I are delighted to have been involved with such a worthwhile cause.”
