18 May Colchester duo Ana and Fia Almanda wow judges on BGT
A MOTHER and daughter duo from Colchester left the judges reaching for the tissues after their emotional performance on top TV show Britain’t Got Talent.
Stars Ana and Fia Almanda wowed the audience with their duet of Celine Dion and Barbara Streisand’s Tell Him.
They also told their emotional story of how they moved to the UK from America in 2011.
Speaking during her audition, Ana said: “I had a bad, difficult marriage and recently I had to take the kids out from home for good.
“It’s our fresh start, I’m hoping for a better future for us.”
Since their performance was screened on ITV talent show, the pair, who previously performed at the Headgate Theatre in Colchester, have won droves of fans and have appeared on the ITV show Lorraine.
Ana, 48, said she hopes her story will inspire women in similar situations.
She said: “I think some women are inspired…that’s my goal.
“We encourage them to be brave and strong and get out of the situation if they’re in a similar one to what I was in before.
Ana and Fia, 18, have been singing together for almost a year and say music is a form of therapy.
They said they were encouraged to audition for the show by their friends.
Ana said: “We are strong as a family and you can sing in every situation, a bad situation or a good situation.
Fia: “You can face whatever difficulty in life with your family beside you.
