COLCHESTER Carnival aims to raise up to £10,000 for charity when it hits the streets next month.
This year’s carnival will take place on Saturday, July 16, and 15,000 people are expected to attended the High Street procession.
Sponsored by Weston Homes, this year’s theme is fairytales, myths and legends.
Organisers have selected two charities to raise money for this year. The proceeds will be split between The Haven Project and the Robin Cancer Trust.
The event is organised by Colchester Round Table and Colchester Ladies Circle and entries are now being accepted for the procession.
A carnival spokesman said: “As always, we want this year’s carnival to be as vibrant as possible with the community at the heart of it.
“This year’s Colchester Carnival theme is fairytales, myths and legends. We want everyone to have a chance to really get involved. That’s what we’re aiming to achieve, a real community-centred event.
“Businesses can enter for a nominal fee on the condition they get into the carnival spirit.”
