15 Oct Clacton Council to look at beach safety measures
Tendring District Council (TDC) is working with lifesaving agencies to look at ways of improving beach safety along its coastline.
A meeting of TDC’s Cabinet heard today (Friday, October 12) how the Maritime and Coastguard Agency, RNLI, the emergency services and others were working with the council to explore measures that could be taken to improve information to seafront visitors, particularly in the peak summer months.
A motion by Councillor Andrew Pemberton calling for the council to offer six free swimming lessons to children in the district had been referred to Cabinet by full council.
Mick Skeels, Cabinet Member for Leisure and Tourism, thanked Cllr Pemberton for his motion but said free swimming lessons alone were not the right way forward.
