City & Country offers exciting opportunities at historic St Osyth Priory Open Day

23 Feb City & Country offers exciting opportunities at historic St Osyth Priory Open Day

Exclusive heritage development St Osyth Priory is opening its doors on Sunday 26th February from 10am to 5pm as part of an open weekend at the wider St Osyth Priory Estate on West Field Lane. Alongside an opportunity to see the new wedding venue at the ‘Wedding Showcase’, award-winning developer City & Country is inviting prospective homebuyers to view its final homes for sale which are situated within the estate.

The exclusive detached and terraced three and four-bedroom homes will be the last opportunity for buyers to purchase at this impressive country estate. City & Country’s sales suite and show home will be open on Sunday 26th February for prospective buyers to learn more about these properties as well as having the opportunity to see the lifestyle on offer at the development, with sales advisors on hand to give expert advice.

Steeped in 1400 years of nature, myth, legend and history, St Osyth Priory Estate is one of the largest collections of remaining ecclesiastical buildings in England, with 16 separate Grade I, Grade II* and Grade II listed buildings set within a Grade II registered historic park and garden. City & Country is offering the final opportunity to buy one of just 73 newly created premium specification homes at the historic site.

As a Registered Park and Garden Country Wildlife Site, the estate features historic lakes, ponds and woodland, and a private residents’ circular walk where residents can see the estate’s native livestock and free roaming animals. Those exploring the estate will also be able to enjoy outstanding views of the Estuary, Flag Creek, Brightlingsea and Mersea Island.

Jennifer Rhodes-Finch, Head of Marketing for City & Country, comments: “St Osyth Priory has been a truly remarkable project. Building an exclusive collection of new homes set within a beautiful heritage site has been a very challenging but incredibly special experience. We’ve helped revitalise a truly unique estate, which can be enjoyed by residents as well as the wider community for many years to come.”

The new homes at St Osyth Priory have been sensitively designed to reflect the local area, with architectural character of the surrounding North Essex vernacular, featuring an abundance of historically inspired details to respect its heritage setting.

Jennifer continues: “We have witnessed a high demand for the new homes from a diverse range of buyers, from those relocating to a peaceful country location or downsizing and purchasing a stylish apartment, to growing families looking to put down roots in a historic setting. We have now released the final properties at this exclusive development and would welcome anyone interested in viewing this great estate for themselves to come down and visit our sales suite and tour our show homes, to ensure they don’t miss out.”

The new homes on the estate have been traditionally designed with a premium specification. Bathrooms feature Laufen Pro contemporary sanitaryware and complementary porcelain wall and floor tiles, whilst the kitchens include Silestone worktops, integrated Bosch and Zanussi appliances and oak-finished flooring. Residents can also benefit from underfloor heating throughout, and for peace of mind, all homes include intruder alarms.

The remaining four-bedroom homes all have double garages and a separate study, ideal for those working from home. Prospective buyers can choose between three storey homes designed for open plan living or more a traditional layout to suit a variety of lifestyles.

Being a fully working estate, animals roam freely at St Osyth Priory, including the iconic white deer, as well as the rare breed and native livestock such as the four-horned Manx Loaghtan sheep, Hebridean sheep and English Longhorn cattle. Biodiversity also thrives amongst the wider estate, which incorporates an extensive wetland habitat of national and international importance for wildfowl, invertebrates and salt marsh plant communities amongst others.

Plans for the general estate include a new visitor centre, café and play barn, alongside its new status as an exclusive wedding venue. With these future plans serving both residents and the general public, the historic site will once again be given a community feel and take on the role of a great country estate.

Jennifer Rhodes-Finch adds: “We are extremely proud of the work we have undertaken at St Osyth Priory; it is truly a place to call home like no other. The community has been revitalised in recent years, and it is incredible to play a part in restoring the estate back to its former glory.”

St Osyth village itself has a modern community with a village school, local shops, amenities and boutique businesses, and is close to surrounding areas such as the River Colne Estuary Site of Specific Interest. Colchester is around 12 miles away, offering a strong arts and culture scene with galleries, theatres and art venues, a renowned zoo and a busy town centre. Direct trains from Colchester to London Liverpool Street take less than an hour. For travel by road, the A120, A12 and A14 connect residents to Clacton-on-Sea, Colchester, Chelmsford and beyond, including Stansted Airport and Southend Airport for international travel.

The three-bedroom family homes range from £435,000 to £485,000, with the price of four-bedroom homes starting from £625,000.
