Children’s hospice urges public to buy gift cards rather than chocolate eggs for Easter

20 Mar Children’s hospice urges public to buy gift cards rather than chocolate eggs for Easter

Haven House Children’s Hospice is urging the public to show its support this Easter by purchasing gifts cards or presents from its Amazon Wish List rather than traditional chocolate eggs.

Every year Haven House receives hundreds of chocolate eggs at Easter from generous members of the public, but the eggs cannot be given to children cared for at the hospice due to the nature of their conditions. Many are unable to eat, drink and swallow whole food and are tube fed.

Rather than Easter eggs, the charity is urging kind-hearted supporters to either purchase a gift card for somebody else as a donation to the hospice or items from its Amazon Wish List that would be of greatest use for children who use Haven House.

Many of the toys are designed to produce a sensory response and all items are gender neutral. Along with use in the hospice at Woodford Green, some of the toys will also be included in Haven House’s Toy Home Loan service.

Toy Home Loan provides the parents of children with life-limited or serious medical conditions with free use of specialist toys for up to three months.

You can make a donation to Haven House by purchasing a gift card. The cards come in denominations of £5, £10, £25 and £60 and there is space on the back for you to write a personal message.
