Chelmsford Museum’s gallery is quickly establishing itself as the place for ‘Pop Artists’ to display their work. James Wilkinson’s ‘VFlections’ exhibition has recently started, and now Sam Mayle’s ‘Pop Culture’ will go on display starting on Saturday 23 June.

Sam is a freelance illustrator who studied graphic design at Colchester Institute, but had always been drawing and doodling from an early age. Sam’s work is influenced by sci-fi, fantasy, film/TV, video games and all forms of media, and the exhibition is a collection of his pop culture posters. The show will revolve around his alternative movie posters from films, tv shows, comics, and video games.  Sam is a prolific artist and has worked on graphic novels, album covers, book covers, posters, product packaging, as well as special commissions.

‘Pop Culture’ is part of the Chelmsford Arts and Cultural Festival and will run until Friday 31 August. Entry to ‘Pop Culture’ is free and the gallery is open Monday to Thursday 10am – 5pm  Fridays during the school holidays 10am to 5pm, Fridays during term time, closed , Saturdays 10am to 5pm, and Sundays 1pm to 4pm. The exhibition closes 19 August.
