06 Jun Chelmsford Fringe Festival is back as a 10-day event
After a long hiatus in the performing arts sector, 2022 has been slowly giving Brits one of their favourite kinds of entertainment back. Live concerts, theatres and comedy sessions are finally back to our days, and this summer looks promising for those who have been missing art experiences.
Chelmsford Fringe is one of the many festivals to add to the calendar. After a successful pilot day last year, they are expanding to a 10-day festival that spans across the city, and across the arts. From theatre to short films, they will be showcasing a wide range of talent and art suitable for the whole family. Their comedy week will feature a number of notable acts, whilst their family programme will offer entertainment for younger audiences.
The festival will take place from Thursday, July 7th to Sunday, July 17th and the programme includes performances and exhibitions in different local venues, from the high street to Chelmsford Cathedral.
Among the attractions that are already confirmed are a series of Edinburgh Fringe previews, with names like Jayde Adams (8 Out of 10 Cats, House of Games) and Simon Brodkin (AKA Lee Nelson). AComedy Club is hosting shows with the likes of Tom Ward and guests, plus the festival offers 7½ Years – A One Man Musical and the ARU Chamber Music Concert, with many more to be announced.
With the aim to reach a wider community of art enthusiasts, the festival has partnered with Maldon Festival (June 25th to July 11th), ensuring the area is surrounded by arts throughout the month. “This is one of several partnerships the CFF is having for this and future editions. Arts are a fundamental part of human existence, particularly at present. Making, sharing and experiencing art contributes to a better world and wellbeing”, says the CFF’s director Luis Chaves Lopes. The festival is also reaching out to local companies that might be interested in sponsorship and members of the community to be volunteers.
