09 Sep #Chelmsford: Essex Police Officer helps save woman’s life
On 16th August2016, Sergeant Paul Gooding, from Chelmsford’s Local Policing Team, was called to an incident where a woman in distress was outside the railings on top of a multi-storey car park in Chelmsford.
He approached her carefully and demonstrated empathy to build a rapport with the woman who was visibly distraught and intent on ending her own life.
Having talked to her alongside a team of trained negotiators, Paul was eventually able to bring the woman to a place of safety.
He said: “It was touch and go for a couple of hours, but I was just glad she came down. I hope she can now get the help she needs”
