06 Sep Chair of Harlow Council’s golf day raises £1,500 for charity
More than £1,500 was raised for charity at the Chair of Harlow Council’s golf day held at Canons Brook Golf Club on Friday 3 September 2021.
The money will be split at the end of year between Councillor Clive Souter’s chosen charities – dementia care at Princess Alexandra Hospital and the Harlow Stroke Support Group.
The charity golf day is an annual event in the chair of the council’s diary, but was unable to be held last year due to COVID restrictions. Over the years the event has raised thousands for charity.
A team from Public Health England Harlow won the overall competition with a team of councillors finishing runners-up. The award for the longest drive went to Bush Fair Ward Councillor Dan Swords.
A putting competition was also held in honour of former Harlow Council employee and keen golfer Nigel Veal who sadly passed away last year. Nigel’s family attended to present the winner with the Nigel Veal Award.
The council would like to thank Canons Brook Golf Club for their hospitality and raffle prize as well as Redchurch Brewery who donated raffle prizes.
