Cat charity joins with Braintree vets to offer discounted ‘snip and chip’ campaign

18 Oct Cat charity joins with Braintree vets to offer discounted ‘snip and chip’ campaign

Cats Protection’s Colne Valley Branch is teaming up with Black Notley Veterinary Surgery to offer cat neutering and microchipping for just £10.

From Friday 1 November to Saturday 30 November, anyone who fits the criteria and lives in postcode areas CM7 or CM77 is eligible to take part in the campaign. The opportunity also applies to those in Kelvedon, Tiptree and Inworth as well as postcode area CO9 (Halstead and Sible Hedingham).

Kornelia Teelucksingh, Branch Treasurer, said, “We are thrilled to be teaming up with Black Notley Veterinary Surgeons as without their support, we wouldn’t be able to help as many cats.

“Microchipping is the most effective way to identify a lost pet and increase the likelihood of a happy reunion if a cat goes wandering. If the worst does happen then the owner can be informed.”

“The procedure itself is simple and doesn’t cause any harm. Once the chip is inserted, your cat won’t even be aware it is there.

“Neutering also has many benefits to protect a pet cat’s health by making them less likely to roam, spray and fight, and reducing the possibility of contracting life-threatening diseases that can be transmitted by bites and saliva.”

Anyone wishing to apply, can do so until Sunday 24 November by texting 07730 073 024 or by emailing Neutering@colnevalley.cats.org.uk.

Kornelia added: “We ask that people text or email us with their name, address, phone number, their cat’s name(s), age(s), colour(s), and whether their cat(s) are male or female.”

The offer is open to anyone with a low income, in receipt of benefits, pension credit, or is a student.

Anyone with queries about their eligibility should contact the branch.
