17 Aug Calvin Billington-Glen appears on Anna Kennedy OBE’s TV slot to raise awareness about autism
17 year old Calvin Billington-Glen has a diagnosis of Asperger’s syndrome and, in the past, he has suffered with severe anxiety, clinical depression and psychosis.
Recently Anna Kennedy OBE spoke to Calvin on her regular Autism Awareness session at Women’s Radio Station and Sky TV’s Chrissy B Show.
Calvin spoke about his personal experience to raise awareness and reduce the stigma relating to speaking out about mental health and autism.
Anna first met Calvin in 2015 on her well known charitie’s Autism’s got Talent in London and recently at the Roadshow in St Ives. Calvin is an enthusiastic and talented singer/songwriter. He has performed at more than 200 charity and community events and recently recorded AnnaKennedyonline’s Charity single ‘Baby Boy’ alongside six other Autism’s got Talent performers . This single is now being used for UK Charity week early in December.
The Teen Awards
In recognition of his incredible commitment Calvin was nominated and invited to meet HRH Prince Harry and HRH Prince William the Duke of Cambridge at Kensington Palace .After meeting the Princes Calvin said “the shock is still sinking in, it really inspires me to carry on with the work I am doing.
I really want to go out there and do more: Keep campaigning, keep talking, keep doing speeches. Prince Harry said himself this is not the end , it’s just the beginning.” Perhaps more exciting for Calvin was Rita Ora’s presence, a personal highlight for Calvin was when Rita was concerned her hair was getting wet so he offered her his umbrella.
Anna Kennedy OBE shared “I am so proud of everything Calvin has achieved and we are lucky as a charity to know him. He is such a kind and caring individual.’
Calvin is also an Ambassador of Dorset Mind and he is a great spokesperson on raising awareness on Mental Health.
Anna and Calvin’s pre recorded interview can be heard August 27th at 3 pm on Women’s Radio Station and later in the evening they both appear on Sky TV’s Chrissy B Show at 10 pm.
