The much-loved Burnham Art Trail returns from 20 – 28 June for its 22nd year, bringing art, creativity and community to venues across Burnham-on-Crouch.
Believed to be the oldest and largest art trail in Essex, this year’s event features an impressive 66 exhibitors alongside exhibitions from local art clubs from Maldon Chelmsford and beyond.
Visitors can explore a huge variety of work, with original paintings, drawings, photography, printmaking, ceramics, sculpture, jewellery, textiles and needlework all on display and available to buy directly from artists and makers.
The trail takes place across a wide range of venues throughout the town, including artists’ studios, cafés, shops and community spaces, giving visitors the chance to discover both art and Burnham itself along the way.
As well as viewing and buying work, there are opportunities to get involved through artist-led workshops and hands-on creative activities, alongside the return of the now-famous ‘Art on the Quay’.
Set against the backdrop of the beautiful riverside town of Burnham-on-Crouch, the trail offers far more than an exhibition. With historic pubs, independent cafés, places to eat and plenty of ice cream stops along the way, organisers say the event is designed as “a day out for the whole family”. Burnham is also easily reached by train, making the trail an ideal day trip for visitors from across Essex and London.
New for this year is the inaugural Burnham Art Trail Fringe — an exciting programme of talks, film premieres, music performances and even a giant quiz, running alongside the main trail.
“We’re incredibly proud that the trail has become such a longstanding part of the town’s cultural life,” said organisers. “What makes Burnham Art Trail special is the sheer variety of creativity on show and the warm welcome visitors receive throughout the town.”
No tickets are required for the main Burnham Art Trail.
