Bravo! Dame Bradbury’s pupils put on their Greatest Show!

16 Aug Bravo! Dame Bradbury’s pupils put on their Greatest Show!

Year 6 pupils from Dame Bradbury’s Junior School in Saffron Walden gave a showstopping performance of the hit musical ‘The Greatest Show’.

Set in Victorian Britain, pupils shone in the production based on the elaborately-named circus, ‘Pickle’s Perambulating Palace of Performers!’ The musical introduced pupils to the mediums of music hall, silent movies and melodrama, while enabling them to be involved in every aspect of the production, from colourful set design to costumes and choreography.

Lauren Hussein, Teacher of Drama and Theatre at Dame Bradbury’s comments: “The musical provided a unique opportunity for our pupils to get involved with a niche element of the performing arts which combines drama, music and the circus. We are very proud of each and every cast and production member, who worked together to give an outstanding performance on the night. From the fantastic talent displayed, we expect there to be some budding actors to watch out for!”

Music forms part of Dame Bradbury’s core curriculum, where pupils are encouraged to participate in various extra-curricular music groups and drama performances, ranging from musicals and Shakespeare plays.
