Following a year of huge change, Braintree Village is set to celebrate in style this month as it marks its 20th birthday. The Village will be surprising and delighting guests with a jam-packed day full of fun for all the family on Friday 15th November to make it a year to remember.
From live music and kids’ activities to extra discounts and late-night shopping, Braintree Village is inviting guests to join in the birthday celebrations and enjoy a day of free entertainment. Radio Essex will be taking over the Village from 5.30pm with popular breakfast show hosts Chris and Abbi presenting the festivities. At 6pm, vintage vocal trio, The Rockabellas, will be hitting the stage with a rocking line up of party tracks and Christmas tunes.
From Friday 15th to Wednesday 20th November, families can take part in the Braintree Village Birthday Trail, with kids given the chance to find the hidden clues in store windows as families shop. The free trail maps can be collected from the Guest Services team, with a Lindt Teddy Bear advent calendar and Braintree Village gift card for one lucky trail completer.

We’ve been part of the community for 20 years and wanted to celebrate in a way that gives something back to those who’ve enjoyed visiting us over the years. We can’t wait to welcome them on 15th November and give them a great day and evening out with friends and family.

Gemma Adley, Retail Manager for the Centre, has worked at Braintree Village since it opened: “I was only 17 when I started my first full time job at Braintree Village. I remember in the first few weeks of opening there was a feeling of excitement for something new for Braintree. I had no idea then that it would become such a big part of my life. I’ve made some of my best friends whilst working here and there’s a real sense of community throughout the whole Village. I’m so proud to be part of the team and look forward to the future as we continue to develop.”
Fashion, accessories, homeware and beauty brands at Braintree Village will be offering exclusive discounts off the already great value Outlet price for one-day only on Friday 15th November, giving guests the chance to save even more money in the lead up to Christmas.
The festive season will also have officially arrived for the 20th birthday, with guests able to enjoy gazing in wonder at the new Christmas lights throughout Braintree Village. This year, the Village is home to an all-new set-up, including a 12-metre-high walkthrough Christmas tree, giant bauble and Christmas present, providing the perfect backdrop for pictures with loved ones. Additional entertainment will also be seen in the stores with the iconic Radley Scottie Dogs making an appearance and live calligraphy on Christmas gifts at Molton Brown.
This year has seen the transformation of Braintree Village from Freeport Braintree as it embarked on a new chapter in its 20th year. The Village has made headway with improvements, enhancing the overall look and feel and creating a more sociable and relaxing shopping and dining destination.
