Braintree Town Hall to light up blue in honour of NHS 75th anniversary

05 Jul Braintree Town Hall to light up blue in honour of NHS 75th anniversary

Braintree Town Hall will be lighting up blue on the evening of Wednesday 5 July as a tribute to the 75th anniversary of the NHS.

The blue light is the symbol of the NHS and is a tribute to the ongoing dedication, commitment and hard work of all their staff. Today the NHS treats more than a million people per day and continues to be there for people when they need it most.

Braintree Town Hall will be joining many other national buildings and landmarks in lighting up blue, including the House of Commons and the London Eye.

Councillor Diana Garrod, Chairman of Braintree District Council, said: “We are very proud to be lighting up our Town Hall blue to honour the 75th anniversary of the NHS.

“We would like to highlight and thank all the amazing people who work for the NHS and the fantastic care they provide us with every day.

“NHS staff were particularly dedicated during the pandemic when many of the staff risked their own life to help others.”

Chairman Cllr Diana Garrod also visited the staff who help run Braintree Community Hospital this week to show her support as part of the celebrations. It is Cllr Garrod’s aim to support people’s health and wellbeing in every aspect, and her chosen charity for the civic year is The Salvation Army which has a donation centre in Braintree.
