A Braintree mum is hopeful that her £700,000 top prize win on a National Lottery Winning 777 scratchcard heralds a turn around in luck for her family.
The lady, Amelia Fack (38), can’t believe that a spur of the moment decision for a little treat now means that she can buy a house that she and her children can forever call home.
Still not believing her luck, Amelia commented on the moment she discovered her win while on a supermarket shop:
“I popped in with my daughter and as I left the store it’s as if the Winning 777 scratchcard was calling to me, I can’t tell you how pleased I am that I listened! I stood by the foreign exchange counter to play it and when I found the £700,000 symbol I think I went into shock. All I remember was the lady in the booth, who was on the phone, saying ‘I’m going to have to go, there’s a lady outside who doesn’t look very well’.
“She came out and asked me if I was okay and I just showed her the scratchcard and said ‘can you tell me there are really three 7’s there, and does that say £700,000’. When she confirmed it was a winner I didn’t know what to do, thankfully the people in the shop helped me call Camelot who could verify the win.”

Having signed the back of her winning scratchcard she hid it in her handbag and headed home with her daughter acting as security. Once home she locked it away in a cupboard and hid the key elsewhere until she could swap the piece of colourful card for a £700,000 deposit into her bank account.
The National Lottery changes the lives of winners like Amelia as well as communities across the UK – players raise around £30m for National Lottery-funded projects every week across the arts, sports, heritage, health, education, environment, charity and voluntary sectors.
