Bringing Essex Together

Braintree Market Booms For First-Time Buyers And London Leavers

As Braintree continues to attract first-time buyers and those leaving London, the sought after location has been named one of the best places in the UK for new homeowners[2]. Due to this, independent housebuilder Dandara is set to meet this demand with its latest development at Birch Park in Braintree.

With first-time buyers having made up 31% of London leavers in 2024[3], the number of Londoners leaving the capital to buy their first home has more than doubled over the last 11 years. Known for its affordable locations, ideal transport links into the city and extensive green space, Essex holds one of the top spots for buyers making their first move onto the property ladder.

To meet the growing demand, Dandara is offering a collection of two-, three- four- and five-bedrooms in the heart of the market town of Braintree at its new development Birch Park. Tucked away in a quiet cul-de-sac, the development is set within a wider masterplan that includes retail space, play areas and open green land. The development will be launching its two-bedroom apartments in due course, with an expected completion date of Summer 2026.

All private homes at Birch Park will feature electric vehicle charging points, PV panels, and wastewater heat recovery systems as standard. The development will also include communal green spaces, including a Neighbourhood Equipped Area for Play, and expansive meadow areas designed to enhance green space and biodiversity.

Gemma Bannister, Sales Director at Dandara Eastern, commented that: “As we see an influx of buyers moving out of London to find better value for their money on properties, whilst accommodating to increased office-work commitments in the city, Braintree has become increasingly popular for those joining the ladder. The location provides quick transport links into Liverpool Street Station in just under an hour whilst still offering a peaceful lifestyle. Our new homes at Birch Park allow first-time buyers seeking a life outside of London various options to choose from where they can experience a community feel, away from the hustle and bustle of city life.”

Birch Park boasts ideal transport links, with Braintree Railway Station just 2.2 miles away, offering regular trains to London Liverpool Street via Chelmsford and Shenfield. The A120 and A131 roads also provide quick access to the M11 and M25. For journeys further afield, London Stanstead Airport is just a 25 minute drive away.

Nearby there are a host of local amenities on Braintree’s bustling high street with a variety of cafes, bars, restaurants, and shops to choose from. Braintree Village, formerly known as Freeport, features over 90 outlets for shoppers to snap up the latest designer and high street brands, with the twice weekly street markets outside the Town Hall offering the best goods from local suppliers.
Prices start at £325,000 for a two-bedroom home, with apartment prices coming soon. To find out more about Birch Park, visit www.dandara.com or call 01376 748170.
