29 Oct B&Q celebrates new Colchester store opening with fun-filled day of activity
The opening of B&Q’s new Colchester store was marked with a day of activities including a live broadcast from Actual Radio, gift card giveaways, and a community mural painting.
Hosted by Actual Radio Colchester, the activities included a broad selection of product demos across the store to inspire Colchester DIY-ers of all ages, as well as customer scavenger hunts to win B&Q gift cards throughout the day.
Caroline Voutsinas, B&Q Stane Park, Store Manager, said: “It has been great to welcome the local community to the new store . The new store has both a huge range of products and also provides inspiration for Colchester home improvers young and old to help them with their home improvement projects. It has been great to celebrate the new store opening today and offer activities to our customers too.
The community mural was created by award-winning Colchester artist and BBC Great Interior Design Challenge finalist Lucy Tiffney, and saw members of the local community picking up their paintbrushes to create a Colchester-inspired artwork that celebrates the meaning of home and what Colchester means to them.
The mural design featured a homage to three local charities chosen by colleagues of the new store – St Helena Hospice, Beacon House and Hamilton Primary School – who will each receive the relevant segment of the mural as well asa £500 gift card to each of the charities donated by B&Q
Lucy Tiffney, Colchester-born artist, said: “I loved bringing my work to life at the B&Q Colchester launch celebration. I’ve been impressed by the brushwork of our town, and thank everyone for jumping in and giving it a go!”
