Bookings open for Labour party luminary Brian Wilson’s Fireside Chat with OEUK at Offshore Europe

21 Aug Bookings open for Labour party luminary Brian Wilson’s Fireside Chat with OEUK at Offshore Europe

The Rt Hon Brian Wilson CBE, former Member of Parliament for Cunninghame North and UK Energy Minister, is guest of honour in a lunchtime chat on September 5 presented by Offshore Energies UK (OEUK) at this year’s Offshore Europe conference in Aberdeen.

Currently Chair of the Centre for Energy Policy’s Advisory Group, Brian’s ministerial career was at the heart of the 1997 Blair/Brown administration, which saw him hold office as Minister of State for Trade, Scotland and Africa across each of these departments.

Since leaving politics in 2005, Brian has written extensively on energy issues and ‘Reflections from a former Energy Minister’ is the theme of the conversation hosted by Mike Gaskill, OEUK’s Head of External Affairs. Brian’s parliamentary experience and knowledge of the national and geo-political environment will be central to the discussion on how energy policy and politics remain at the forefront of the political debate.

Brian Wilson said,
“I look forward to a lively and informative discussion with a knowledgeable audience. My objective was always a balanced energy policy which respected the three imperatives – security of supply, affordability and carbon reduction. That is a good starting point for any policy maker and also for our Aberdeen conversation”.

Taking place at P&J Live on Tuesday September 5 from 12pm to 2pm, the event sponsored by Opito features an informal discussion followed by an audience Q&A session facilitated by Mike Gaskill, who previously worked at Westminster in several senior advisor roles.

Demand for this interesting event is expected to be high and bookings are now open on the OEUK website.
