The organisers of the annual Fun Walk are delighted to share that, thanks to support from local businesses and individuals, the 2026 Bonus Pot has already reached over £30,000.
The ‘Bonus Pot’ is a key incentive for supporters of local charities and community groups to raise funds for their chosen cause, as it tops up on a pro-rata basis the money raised in sponsorship by each participating organisation.
Last year, the Trustees were able to provide a 35% bonus, adding £35 for every £100 raised in sponsorship, and over £121,000 was raised in total by participating organisations. The team are hoping to do even better this year.
Since 2002, the annual Fun Walk, which takes place through September, has helped registered charities and good causes (local schools, churches, grass roots sports teams and other community and animal welfare groups) to raise money.
John Baron, Chair of The Fun Walk Trust, said:
“The Bonus Pot tops up on a pro-rata basis the money raised in sponsorship by each participating charity and good cause. The bonus provides a huge incentive to raise money via their own sponsorship efforts.”
“So far this year, our Bonus Pot donors include Tunnelcraft Ltd, Brown & Carroll (London), Sanctuary Housing Association, One Footstep (Human Kind Café, Billericay), Butyl Products Group, c2c Railway Limited, Equi Ltd, Mr Barrie Stone and other individuals. We thank them for their generosity and community spirit.”
Participating for the last three years, Tina Jullings, Chair & Founder of Essex Therapy Dogs CIO said:
“This helps us to continue our voluntary work of bringing care, comfort, and companionship to people across Essex through our therapy dog visits.”
Participating for the first time last year, Cheryl Wood, Treasurer of Motor Neurone Disease Foundation (MNDF), said:
“Fundraising is hard with so many deserving causes needing financial support, the bonus pot was more than we had hoped for.”
