Billericay High Street welcomed a major boost to local banking services on Thursday 18th December 2025, with the official opening of the new Billericay Banking Hub, providing convenient, face-to-face banking support for customers of all the UK’s major banks.
image002.jpgThe Banking Hub was officially opened at 11:00am with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, led by Rt Hon Richard Holden MP, alongside Ruby and Mark, the Hub’s managers, and members of the Cash Access UK team. The ceremony marked an important milestone for the town and its High Street, with the doors opening to customers shortly afterwards at 11:30am.
Nikki Machin, BID Manager for Your Billericay commented: “It’s fantastic to have banking facilities back on Billericay High Street. Access to face-to-face banking is vital for supporting our community and plays a key role in helping local businesses to thrive. As part of the Your Billericay BID, we are focused on strengthening the High Street and boosting convenience and confidence for both businesses and customers, and this Banking Hub is a hugely positive step in supporting the continued vitality of Billericay.”
Owned by Cash Access UK and operated by the Post Office, the Banking Hub offers shared banking services designed to ensure communities continue to have access to essential in-person banking. The Billericay Banking Hub features a Post Office-run counter service alongside private meeting rooms, where customers can speak confidentially with representatives from their own bank.
Rt Hon Richard Holden MP commented: “After a concerted effort, I’m delighted that the banking hub is now open and will be run by Mark and Ruby from Sunnymede Post Office. This will be a real anchor for all businesses in Billericay and a massive improvement to the banking services for Billericay residents. My predecessor, John Baron, and several of our councillors have been pushing for years to get a hub. I was delighted to take up the fight when I was elected and it’s fantastic to see this come into fruition today, the 200th banking hub in Britain and one that will help deliver greater access to banking and footfall to the hight street. It’s a great win for Billericay and one delivered very speedily as plans were only finalised in September. So go and check out the new hub!”
Available services include cash withdrawals, cash and cheque deposits, balance enquiries, business change-giving, bill payments, and cash deposits using deposit slips or barcoded methods. Counter services are available to customers of all major banks Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm.
In addition, face-to-face appointments with specific banks are available on designated days:
Monday: Santander
Tuesday: Lloyds (from 6th January)
Wednesday: NatWest
Thursday: HSBC (coming soon)
Friday: Barclays (coming soon)
image004.jpgThe opening of the Billericay Banking Hub marks a significant milestone for Cash Access UK, representing the 200th Banking Hub to open nationwide.
“Today is a very special milestone for us as we open our 200th Banking Hub. This time last year we were celebrating the opening of our 100th Hub and serving our one millionth customer. Since then, we have opened approximately two new Hubs each week and we’ll soon be supporting one million customer transactions each month. This Banking Hub will be a real asset to Billericay, and we’re confident it will be warmly welcomed by the local community. Mark and Ruby will do a fantastic job serving customers here, and we’d like to thank all of our partners for their support in making this happen.” said Gareth Oakley, Chief Executive at Cash Access UK.
To celebrate the landmark opening, the Hub is showcasing giant chocolate coins, with mini chocolate coins available for customers to take and enjoy. The festive display reflects the Christmas season, while also celebrating Billericay’s rich local history, an area renowned for unearthing treasures and coins dating back to the Bronze Age.
The new Banking Hub is set to become a valuable asset for Billericay, supporting residents, businesses and the wider community by maintaining vital access to banking services on the High Street.
