Billericay Sparkles at the Late Night Light Up Event

Billericay was truly aglow last night as Your Billericay’s Late Night Light Up event brought Christmas cheer to the High Street and Radford Way. From 5pm, the town came alive with twinkling lights, joyful music, and an incredible sense of community spirit as residents and visitors gathered to kick off the festive season in true Billericay style.

image002.jpgThe evening celebrated everything that makes Billericay special, its people, independent shops and thriving local businesses. As shop windows shimmered with Christmas magic, the High Street transformed into a winter wonderland of late-night shopping, live entertainment, and festive fun. Hundreds joined in with the Candy Cane trail, finding the brightly coloured posters in window to claim a sweet treat prize.

Local businesses including Olive Branch, NU Rose, Hutton Kitchens and Lewis Yates, kept their doors open late, offering exclusive in-store discounts, seasonal treats, and gift inspiration galore. The streets buzzed with laughter and excitement, with live performances, walkabout acts, and festive music creating an unforgettable evening atmosphere.

With free parking available throughout the evening, visitors were able to relax, shop local, and enjoy a magical night celebrating the very best of Billericay.

Jim Brewin, Waitrose Manager and Vice-Chair of Your Billericay, said: “The buzz around the town was fantastic. The atmosphere felt magical, a real festive vibe to get us all into the Christmas spirit. image004.jpgWe’re gearing up for a super busy few weeks and are looking forward to seeing all our loyal customers as they stock up for the celebrations.”

Laura of N Shelley added, “N Shelley has been here in Billericay High Street for over 100 years; to see it come alive the way it did last night was just brilliant. The glow sticks, the roller-skaters, the music, it was all so lovely to be part of. Thanks to all our customers to coming in to say hello too, it was a really special evening.”

The next event on the calendar for Billericay is Small Business Saturday on 6th December. Shoppers who spend over £30 in qualifying stores will be able to collect an exclusive branded jute bag throughout the day. Small Business Saturday is a nationwide scheme in partnership with American Express, designed to support and promote independent and small stores and encourage shopping local.

Nikki Machin, Your Billericay BID Manager commented, “The aim of the Billericay Improvement District is to drive vitality to the area. With a huge number of independent stores in the High Street and surrounding areas, initiatives like image006.pngSmall Business Saturday underpin that aim and go a long way to supporting retailers at such a key time of the year.”
