17 Feb Biggest Days Out at Chelmsford Racecourse in 2021
Chelmsford City Racecourse is the only top-level course in Essex and is also known to be the youngest in the UK, having been founded in just 2015.
However, horse racing was around in Essex long before then, with races being held in villages such a Brentwood, Colchester and Southminster as far back as the 18th century.
This strong equine heritage is always on show at contemporary Chelmsford race days, as racing enthusiasts flock to what used to be known as the Great Leighs Racecourse.
In this article we take a look at the incredible offering of special events that will be held at the course in 2021, so that locals and those travelling from further afield can pick and choose which event is right for them.
Get up close and personal with the long noses at these great days out at Chelmsford
Ladies Day – 17th June – Peter Andre at the Races
It is almost tradition these days for horse race goers in the UK to spend their day backing and cheering on the long noses, before then settling in for a throwback performance from a pop star of yesteryear.
Chelmsford offers that in spades this summer, as the man whose hits include, “Mysterious Girl” and “All Night All Right” headlines Ladies Day at Chelmsford City Racecourse.
This incredible event takes place on a Thursday, so make sure you make a long weekend of it and that you read up on all the online racing tips you can before the festivities really start to kick off. Just so you don’t find yourself blindly picking the horses with nice names but no hope of winning.
Whether you pick a winner or not, a day out at the races is still one of the highlights of any summer
Clockstock Festival – 19th June – Ibiza Comes to Essex
Clockstock is a festival run by party organising legends Clockwork Orange, who having honed their trade in party capitals of the world like London and Ibiza, now bring their own brand of revelling to the Essex countryside.
With the event being in such close proximity to Ladies Day, lots of people will be combining both events to create a weekend for the ages.
General admission starts at £55, although for those punters with deeper pockets it is worth splashing out for one of the Gold admission packages or perhaps the full £250 VIP treatment.
The main acts are still to be announced but expect lashings of Ibiza style house music from some of the genre’s top DJs.
City Cup and Ministry of Sound Classical – 21st August – 2021 Highlight
Every racecourse hosts that one day in the calendar that just cannot be missed. At Chelmsford that day is the 21st of August, when not only the richest race meet of the season is contested, but spectators are treated to a performance from the incredible Ministry of Sound.
Everyone’s favourite club bangers will keep people jumping along and there will be the added glamour of a symphony orchestra amplifying every beat and key change.
Do not be surprised if you spot a few jockeys and trainers getting in on the party action after earning big race wins earlier in the day.
Example – 14th August – Perfect Example of a Huge Night Out
Example is a chart-topping pop and dance music sensation. It is not every day that a star of such calibre comes to wow Essex locals, but that is exactly what is in store for revellers at this non-horse racing event that will run at the racetrack in mid-August.
Just make sure you get your tickets early, because as soon as they go on sale, they are certain to go like hotcakes.
