13 Jun Bellway invests more than £960,000 towards local services in Colchester

Housebuilder Bellway Essex has invested nearly £1 million in improvements to local infrastructure in Colchester as part of the planning agreements for two developments in the city.

The developer is building a total of 295 new homes at Aspen Walk and Hollytree Walk and has handed over a total of £962,601 in contributions towards schools, healthcare and community services.

The two developments have included the provision of 89 affordable homes available for local people through low-cost rent or shared ownership.

Aspen Walk comprises a total of 150 new homes being built across a 20-acre site off Halstead Road in Eight Ash Green, while 145 new homes are being delivered at Hollytree Walk, off Bromley Road.

Jenny Walker, Sales Director for Bellway Essex, said: “This significant investment is part of the planning agreement for two popular and sustainable developments that will bring nearly 300 much-needed new homes to Colchester.

“The delivery of these developments has seen us commit almost £1 million to help improve local facilities and infrastructure in the city. Bellway’s contributions will go towards services including local schools and the provision of public open space for the enjoyment of everyone.

“The contributions for Aspen Walk have seen us invest a total of £894,566 with £649,973 benefitting education provision, £66,248 towards healthcare and £160,000 towards community facilities in the area.

“At Hollytree Walk, we have contributed a total of £68,035 with £50,301 going towards NHS services. In addition to this, the 18-acre site will also feature public open space and a children’s play area, with a tree planting programme along the northern, eastern and southern boundaries.”

So far, 112 new homes have been built at Aspen Walk, while construction at Hollytree Walk has seen 97 properties completed.

There’s currently a selection of two, three and four-bedroom new homes available to reserve at both developments. Prices start from £324,995 at Aspen Walk and £304,995 at Hollytree Walk.
