15 Dec Basildon Tennis courts to undergo £70,000 revamp
Tennis courts at Langdon Hills Recreation Ground will undergo £70,000 of improvements to bring them back into use.
Basildon Council’s Regeneration and Environment committee met on Wednesday, 13 December to discuss investment opportunities in Laindon Park, Lee Chapel North, Langdon Hills and Crouch wards.
Members agreed to spend £70,000 on resurfacing the tennis courts, installing new nets, fencing and secure gates.
Cllr Linda Allport-Hodge, chairman of Basildon Council’s Infrastructure, Growth and Development committee and ward councillor for Langdon Hills, has discussed voluntary gate locking with members of the community.
She said: “We are committed to working with residents to provide facilities and invest in projects which are important to them. My discussions with the community in Langdon Hills identified a need for the tennis courts to undergo a major revamp and I’m delighted we can now progress with this.
“We believe in getting the basics right and understand that parks and open spaces all contribute to how pleasant the borough feels. The new and improved tennis courts will also promote physical health and wellbeing.”
The improvement works are set to be completed by the end of March 2018.
