07 Aug Basildon man fined for flytipping in his own street
A MAN has been fined and ordered to pay costs after pleading guilty to flytipping at Basildon Magistrates’ Court.
Gareth Turner, 28, of Landermere, Basildon, appeared on Monday 6 August and pleaded guilty to leaving a double mattress and bed base on a grass verge in Landermere, Basildon on or around 27 November 2017 contrary to Section 33(1)(a) of the Environmental Protection Act 1990.
He was fined £200, ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £30 plus £500 in costs.
The Magistrate said: “As residents we are all fed up with people leaving stuff in front of their property.” He also stressed the seriousness of the offence and said that if everyone did this Basildon would look dreadful.
Householders can ensure their bulky waste is collected and disposed of properly by booking a special collection.
