Basildon Hospital are seeking a musical accompanist & Leader

12 Jan Basildon Hospital are seeking a musical accompanist & Leader

The choir at Basildon University Hospital are seeking a musical accompanist and a leader to help them hit the right note in their performances and weekly practice sessions.

The enthusiastic singers meet once a week to practice a variety of songs, including pop classics and well-known favourites from musicals, along with golden oldies for patients with dementia and carols for Christmas time.

Sue Hillman, head of occupational health, said: “Last year we put out a call for an accompanist, and were lucky enough to find a wonderful pianist who has played with us for several months. But sadly she has too many other commitments to continue so we are searching again. We also need a choir leader who will organise the music and arrange harmonies.”

“There are usually about 10 of us in the choir, including nurses, therapists, radiographers and admin staff. We all love music and have a lot of fun.”

The hospital choir practice for one hour, at 5.15pm on Tuesdays, in the education centre at Basildon Hospital. If you are a pianist or choir leader who might like to accompany them, please contact Sue Hillman for an informal chat on 01268 524900 ext. 3463, or email sue.hillman@btuh.nhs.uk
