05 Mar Basildon Council scoops national award for property services
Basildon Council and its property services contractor, Morgan Sindall Property Services, have scooped a national award.
They won the ‘Most improved asset management service’ category at this year’s National Housing Maintenance Forum (NHMF) awards. The awards recognise success and ingenuity within the housing sector, and showcase projects and organisations that have excelled in improving the quality and efficiency of the services they provide.
Basildon Council signed a long-term contract with Morgan Sindall to maintain and repair its housing stock and corporate buildings in 2016. The BasWorx social enterprise was also set up to deliver training and employment opportunities to local people.
Cllr Kerry Smith, Basildon Council’s Chairman of the Housing and Community Committee, said: “I am pleased that the judges recognised the wide-reaching range of benefits our contract with Morgan Sindall delivers for the whole community. We have continued to see the difference it makes to our tenants, and now the service has received the national recognition it deserves.
“This award is testament to the great deal of effort that has gone into this contract and the hard work of all involved.”
