20 Sep Basildon Council scoop top RSPCA accolade
Basildon Council has picked up a prestigious award for its continued excellence in dealing with stray dogs and maintaining a high standard of animal welfare.
The council’s stray dog service has achieved a Gold Stray Dog Footprint and in recognition of holding the Gold level for five years continuously it has also been awarded the Platinum Stray Dogs Footprint at the RSPCA’s 2018 PawPrints Awards.
Cllr Kevin Blake, Committee Chairman for the Leisure Culture and Environment Committee, said: “As a dog lover myself and having had several rescue dogs and seeing the joy they give first hand we are extremely proud of our stray dogs service. This award is well deserved and I would like to congratulate the team who do a great job year in year out.”
A winners reception will be held on November 27 in London. This will be preceded by a training session on animal welfare.
