27 Jun Barry Hearn plants tree at Haven House to celebrate 70th birthday
Matchroom Sports Chairman Barry Hearn planted a tree in the grounds of Haven House Children’s Hospice on Wednesday 20 June to celebrate turning 70 the day before and the charity’s 15th birthday year.
The legendary sports promoter who is a long-term supporter and Patron of Haven House planted a Himalayan Birch in its sensory garden and then had a tour of its newly refurbished hospice and new Matchroom Suite which is being built at the entrance to the grounds.
Funded by the Matchroom Foundation, the new two-story building will open later this year.
As part of his visit, Barry received a commemorative plate created by children who use Haven House and decorated with emblems from the many different sports associated with his career.
