Award-winning restaurant in Chelmsford has Mother’s Day twist

01 Mar Award-winning restaurant in Chelmsford has Mother’s Day twist

An award-winning restaurant in Chelmsford has come up with a unique twist on Mother’s Day celebrations that will keep not just mum but mother-in-law happy this year.

Katie Squire, the young restaurateur who has been responsible for guiding the fortunes of the Channels Bar & Brasserie in Little Waltham from golf club to acclaimed destination restaurant, has come up with the genius idea of two separate events to please mums over the weekend of March 10th & 11th.

Katie has decided to dedicate Saturday 10th March to mothers-in-law, and with her team headed up by talented chef Dan Pitts and restaurant manager Zoe Strong, will be laying on a delicious brunch taking place from 11am – 1pm which includes smashed avocado, eggs royale and the ‘naughty butty’ with bottomless P rosecco, while on Mothering Sunday there will be a traditional roast lunch available as well as immensely imaginative dishes including seaweed cured salmon, squash agnolotti and glazed lemon tart with raspberry sorbet and granola.

Katie explains:  “Like Christmas, it’s often difficult to divide your time between your family especially when you are married. Whilst Mothering Sunday remains sacrosanct, mothers-in-law day is an ideal way for couples to show their love and appreciation of both the mothers in their lives.   After all, your spouse would not be the person you love without his or her mum.”

Channels Bar & Brasserie sits in the heart of the Channels country estate.  The 80-cover restaurant, which has been open less than a year, is made up of a number of different ‘rooms’ within the 15th century building including a tasteful space for formal dining as well as cosy nooks for more intimate dining between the open beams, lounge areas, bar and three private dining rooms.
