11 Aug Anti-knife crime event heads to Southend
By Dan Bryans
Making the most of their Saturday, Essex Police officers, Special Constables and Active Citizens from Southend will be hosting an anti-knife crime event alongside the charity, Only Cowards Carry.
Officers from our Southend Community Policing Team along with Special Constables will be conducting high-visibility patrols in the high-street throughout the day to deter any anti-social behaviour.
Inspector Bill Potter, Southend Community Policing Team Inspector said “we all need to educate, deter and prevent people from carrying knives.”
The anti-knife crime charity, Only Cowards Carry, will be hosting a table in The Victoria Shopping Centre from 9am to 5pm. They will be raising awareness of their charity and the work they do alongside officers to deter people from carrying knives, misusing drugs or alcohol and being involved in gangs.
