16 Apr Active Harlow schemes will encourage women to participate in sport

Two new projects in Harlow developed by local sports ambassadors have been set up to help encourage women to participate regularly in sport and physical activity.

Sport England’s This Girl Can campaign has contributed to getting 1.6 million more women participating in regular sport and physical activity. Active Harlow and Active Essex have recruited This Girl Can Essex Ambassadors to encourage more local women to jump on the bandwagon and become physically active. The ambassadors have been developing projects that aim to meet the needs of local women and new projects are about to launch.

The first project to launch is Walking Netball which has been developed by Kelly Harman in partnership with Pat O’Mara, the local netball community and England Netball. ! It is designed so anyone.

The next This Girl Can project to launch in Harlow has been developed by Lesley Whitaker Dance and aims to get mothers and babies/toddlers dancing. Mothers are being encouraged to bring their baby or toddler to the Learning Centre at Pet’s Corner for a fun and enjoyable experience of gentle movement and dancing.

Both projects have been funded by Active Essex. More information and dates can be found via www.twitter.com/activeharlow
