05 May ACL Essex offers mental health support during Mental Health Awareness Week
Adult learning provider, ACL Essex, is supporting residents with their mental health thanks to the launch of a new programme, ‘Your Future Matters’, which will provide free specialist help to the people of Tendring and Harlow.
During Mental Health Awareness Week (9-15 May), the ‘Your Future Matters’ team will be highlighting the support on offer to residents. The new programme offers a wide range of wellbeing support, such as specialist one-to-one mentoring advice to apprentices aged 16-25. Mentors provide young people with the focus and confidence to believe in themselves as well as the motivation to apply for new jobs within a career path they wish to follow.
ACL Essex’s Principal, Katherine Burns explains: “We all know that mental health issues are at an all-time high. Sadly, many people get trapped in a cycle of stress, anxiety and depression and it’s difficult to step out, especially when you find yourselves without a job, or the skills or know-how to get a foot on the career ladder. Our specialist team works in partnership with young people to build confidence and help provide bright futures.”
The programme also targets mental health in the community by signposting residents to a range of free-of-charge ACL Essex wellbeing courses, which include building self-confidence, positive thinking for stress reduction and mental wellbeing during change.
‘Your Future Matters’ has been set-up to help the residents of Tendring and Harlow secure better jobs, improve their prospects and ultimately boost economic regeneration in the district. The programme is supported by HM Government through the UK Community Renewal Fund.
