3 ways to relax before bed

06 Mar 3 ways to relax before bed

Before you go to bed, it’s important to do something relaxing. Your choice of bedtime activity will have a massive impact on how easily you can get to sleep and the quality of sleep you have.

But what sort of bedtime activity makes the most sense? Let’s take a look at some suggestions in further detail:

1. Meditate

There’s only one place to begin, and this is with meditation. Meditation is all about training yourself to become more aware so that you can clear your mind and focus on the task at hand, i.e. relaxing and drifting off to sleep.

In a recent study, Betway unearthed meditation as the best activity for sleep. They found the following:

“Meditating takes the top spot as the best activity for a good night’s sleep, with an average sleep quality score of 88%. On average, participants slept eight hours and four minutes and spent only 12 minutes awake during the night. This is the lowest amount spent awake of all activities analysed. Meditating is a particularly popular method to reduce stress, which may explain why participants were very restful during the night. It’s interesting that just 30 minutes of this practice before bed has such a positive effect on our sleep quality.”

2. Do a face mask

If meditation is not your thing or you want to enjoy different bedtime activities throughout the week, doing a face mask is another worthy choice.

Self-care is critical for many different reasons. We spend so much of our day doing things for other people, completing work tasks, looking after the family, and so on, so it’s critical to make sure you have some time for yourself.

Applying a face mask is incredibly relaxing, and it can also make you feel rejuvenated while promoting healthier and more radiant skin.

3. Watch a comedy film

In addition to doing a face mask and meditating, watching a comedy film is another great activity before you go to bed.

A lot of people do like to watch television before they go to sleep, but what’s on the television is very important. You certainly shouldn’t watch a horror film or true crime show.

Comedy, on the other hand, is a great choice. When you laugh, it causes your mind and body to relax. It also helps you experience joy and happy moments that will counterbalance any stress or anxiety you’ve experienced throughout the day. And, when you consider how stressful life is at the moment, we need this more now than ever!

Make sure you do something relaxing before Zzz time

So there you have it: three of the best activities to enjoy before you go to sleep to ensure you get restful, high-quality sleep.

Don’t underestimate how much of a difference your bedtime activities can make. It’s important to do an activity that’s going to enable your mind and body to calm down, getting you into the correct state to ensure you can drift off into a light sleep, followed by deep sleep.
