The Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) was launched in 2014 by the Prime Minister to recognise employer support for the wider principles of the Armed Forces Covenant. The scheme encompasses bronze, silver and gold awards for employers that pledge, demonstrate or advocate support to Defence and the Armed Forces community.
Kristina Carrington, Regional Employer Engagement Director, Ministry of Defence, commented: “The Silver Awards are an opportunity for the Ministry of Defence to thank organisations across the country for their support and it was my honour to work alongside these eighteen East Anglian organisations and present them with this accolade. They have shown outstanding support to their employees encompassing Reserves, Service Leavers, Armed Forces Veterans, the Wounded, Injured and Sick, Cadets, Military Spouses or partners and their families.”
Johnny Mercer, Minister for Defence People and Veterans, added: “Veterans make a huge contribution to businesses across the country and it’s fantastic to see a record breaking number of organisations recognised for their support. We’re working closely with businesses to help them further understand the huge value that Veterans, Reservists and Military Spouses can bring to their organisation.”
