1,500 local children benefit from intu Lakeside and #Thurrock Council campaign

22 Dec 1,500 local children benefit from intu Lakeside and #Thurrock Council campaign

1,500 local children have had a magical Christmas this year after receiving over 2,500 gifts thanks to intu Lakeside and Thurrock Council’s ‘Give a Gift’ campaign.

Partnering with Thurrock Council for the project, intu Lakeside hosted the new ‘Give a Gift’ Tree which was decorated with children’s names from Thurrock’s fostering and children’s services. Visitors to intu Lakeside had the chance to buy gifts for the children after picking a name tag off of the tree. Thanks to shoppers’ generosity, hundreds of children from the local area received gifts in time for Christmas.

Marc Myers, General Manager at intu Lakeside commented: “We would like to extend our thanks to all of our amazing customers and shoppers that donated gifts and got involved with the Give A Gift campaign. Thanks to the community all working together, the campaign was a huge a success and it is wonderful to know that children across Thurrock will have a special gift to open on the big day.”

Cllr Sue Little, Portfolio Holder for Children’s and Adult Social Care also said: “This whole project has been wonderful and it is simply down to the officers and residents who have gone above and beyond in the name of the community of Thurrock.

I have to give my warmest thanks to Marc Myers and his team at intu Lakeside who helped give the Christmas tree a home this year, and for their efforts to collect presents from kind and generous residents.”
