′Every drop counts′ campaign on a mission to save water in Southend

28 Dec ′Every drop counts′ campaign on a mission to save water in Southend

More than 20,000 households in Southend are being invited to make every drop count.

Water customers who have a toilet with a handle flush have the opportunity to receive a free home water and energy saving visit worth over £130.

The project is part of Essex & Suffolk Water’s award winning, Every Drop Counts campaign. The water supplier is offering help and encouraging customers to convert single flush toilets into dual flush toilets that use less water.

Every Drop Counts was the winner of the 2015 Domestic Building Category from the Sustainable Water Industry Group (SWIG). The retrofit project was recognised at the Sustainable Water Industry Group (SWIG) Awards 2015 as an ‘inspirational and transformational initiative that encourages sustainable water use’.

Tom Andrewartha, Water Efficiency Manager for Essex & Suffolk Water said: “This is a great way to save money on you water bill and cut those other utility bills as well. The visit will help you save on average 30 litres of water a day, saving you £32 a year on your water and sewerage bill,’’ he said.

“Great results have been achieved in Southend so far with the community really getting involved. We are seeing customers saving a lot of water as a result of the Every Drop Counts campaign. I would really encourage customers to take part,” he added.

The water company’s qualified technicians will call at homes by appointment in the Southend area and carry out a water efficiency survey of the property.

They will fit, where suitable, a range of water and energy saving products, including aerated shower heads, tap inserts and a single flush conversion device for toilets, free-of-charge to customers’ homes.

Customers who live in Southend and have a handle flush toilet, who would like to take part can call Essex & Suffolk Water now on 0800 953 0130 to book a free visit or submit the form on the website at www.eswater.co.uk/southend
