Special appeal to find a home and mend Titan’s broken heart

15 Mar Special appeal to find a home and mend Titan’s broken heart

The RSPCA is making a special appeal to find a forever home for sweet Titan who was left broken-hearted after losing his family.

Ten-year-old Titan had been a much-loved family pet – but sadly his heartbroken family had to give him up due to difficult unforeseen circumstances.

He was taken into the care of the local RSPCA Essex South, Southend and District Branch who did all they could to mend his broken heart.

Thankfully Titan has now been placed with a lovely foster family and is doing much better now he’s in a home environment – but staff at the branch are keen to find him a forever home as soon as possible.

Kathy Butler, branch manager, said: “When Titan first arrived he was just so sad and heartbroken and there was nothing we could do to lift his spirits.

“If there was an example of how a broken hearted dog looks and behaves, Titan would have been it. The team here were just so sad that they couldn’t find a way to comfort him and being in kennels was adding to his upset.

“He’d gone through so much losing his beloved owners – and we needed to find a way to help him feel more secure and happy again.

“He had lived with his family since a puppy, and had lived with another dog and older children.

“Akita types tend to be very loyal breeds, they can be selective and aloof with strangers, and bond extremely strongly with ‘their’ people. Which is why Titan is finding it so hard to adjust to being without his family.

“Following an appeal he’s since been placed with a wonderful foster family and now that he’s in a home environment he’s starting to find his sparkle again.

“We just know that he needs a perfect forever home where he can learn to love again which is why we are appealing to find him an adopter.

“If you are experienced with large breeds like Akita and have the time, space and patience to consider offering Titan a home during this difficult time, please do get in touch with us to discuss in more detail.”

Titan weighs 57kg, is neutered and has had his first vaccinations.
