‘Stagey Live’  is a new TV Chat Show set to air in August 2016. An initial series has been commissioned by Essex TV and filming will begin in May 2016.

The premise of the show is to showcase people working within the Theatre Industry. It will provide a platform of exposure to Actors (Musical & Theatrical) and Creatives, as well as behind-the-scene professionals.

The aim of the new TV chat show, arguably the first of it’s kind, is to shed light on the theatre industry and provide an insight for theatre lovers and aspiring artists.

David Muscat has worked professionally both in Australia and in the UK, most notably in the cast of Billy Elliot the Musical where he played the role of Mr Braithwaite in the 10th Year Anniversary cast and ‘Billy Elliot Live’ the worldwide broadcast and DVD release. David brings ‘vaudevillian’ type talents to the role of host as he possess skills in a multitude of performance abilities, as well as sharp comedic timings.

“It’s a big job, one that I’m extremely excited about. It’s not just asking a few questions, there’s a lot of great segments in the first season that are sure to have me breaking out a sweat. Intensive training has begun, I’ve cut down to only 3 microwave meals a week and am waking up before midday now in preparation. It’s going to be great fun talking to people, learning about their adventures, having a few laughs and throwing in a few curve-balls. There is also set to be a few surprises in store. I truly hope that the people out there that love theatre embrace it.” – David Muscat

The show will also feature a regular cast who will be involved in a variety of segments and challenges, Matt Dale (Spamalot), Danny Lane (Miracle on 34th Street), Philip Joel (West End Choreographer) Molly Roberts (Actress, Producer & Artistic Director of Poleroid Theatre) and Simon Ray-Harvey (Motown).

Confirmed appearances so far include; Samantha Spiro (Guys & Dolls), Denise Gough (People, Places & Things), Kobna Holdbrook-Smith (Hamlet), Anna-Jane Casey (Mack & Mabel), Matt Corner (Jersey Boys), Kevin Wathen (Get Carter), Katie Brennan with other Creative/Industry types such as Racky Plews (West End Director/Choreographer), Darren Bell (Photographer), Katy Lipson (Theatre Producer), Bret Yount (Fight Director) amongst others.

Whilst the majority of guests will hail from the UK the programme hopes to translate and receive an audience from both the USA and Australia.

Each episode will feature an international guest, confirmed thus far is Australian Musical Theatre star Rob Mills, who is currently playing the lead in the Australian production of ‘Ghost’. Along with Emily Langridge who played Cosette in the Australian production of ‘Les Miserable’ and taking it on international tour. Paul Watson joins the first series having just joinned the Australian cast of ‘We Will Rock You’ who also brings along previous experience in Direction.

Representing the USA, the Stagey Live team are honoured to welcome Ivonne Coll for an appearance in our first season. People’s Choice Award winner and Golden Globe nominee, her Broadway credits include Tony Award Nominated Chronicle of a Death Foretold, Joseph Papp’s Shakespeare on Broadway: Macbeth, Romeo & Juliet, As You Like It, and Goodbye Fidel.
