A sixth teenager arrested on suspicion of the murder of a man in Harlow has been released on police bail. The 15-year-old boy will report back to police on October 7.

Detectives are continuing to appeal for anyone with information to contact them on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

A sixth person has been arrested in connection with a murder investigation in Harlow.

Police were called shortly after 11.35pm on Saturday, August 27 to The Stow with reports two men had been attacked and knocked unconscious outside the TGF Pizza and Mr Luigi’s takeaway shops.

A 40-year-old man from Harlow suffered head injuries and was taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital. He was later transferred to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge, where he died on Monday evening, August 29.

A 43-year-old man from Harlow was taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital with suspected fractures to his hands and bruising to his stomach. He has since been discharged from hospital.

Four boys aged 15 and one aged 16 – all from Harlow – were arrested on Monday, August 29 on suspicion of attempted murder and further arrested on suspicion of murder. All have been released on police bail pending further enquiries until October 7.

A 15-year-old boy from Harlow was arrested this afternoon on suspicion of murder and is currently in custody awaiting questioning.

A murder investigation has been launched following the death of a man who was assaulted in Harlow.

Senior investigating officer Detective Inspector Al Pitcher, of the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate, said: “This is now a murder investigation and our enquiries have quickly led to the arrest of five teenage boys.

“Following this vicious attack, a man has sadly lost his life and I urge anyone with information to contact us as soon as possible.”

Police will be carrying out extra patrols in the area and we are working with our partners to provide reassurance to the community.

Those arrested are four 15-year-old boys and one 16-year-old boy, all from Harlow. They remain in police custody.
